Data fields
One data field contains one characteristic of an object: a person's name, an event date, etc. In the tables all data fields are arranged in columns, one field in one column. The data fields options are stored inside the data file together with the data.
Those data fields that belong to one certain event type can be created and edited in events types table (Data
menu – Events types
). The other data fields can be created and edited in Data
menu – Data fields

Agelong Tree allows to create user's data fields of different types - text, logical, a number, a place, URL, email. Only fields created by a user can be deleted. To change the order of the data fields in the editing window move the fields up or down in the list of fields. To change the order of fields that are used in a person's full name go to program options
It is not possible to change the name of a standard field. It is possible to make the field appear only for men\women (Scope
):
Use autocomplete
option turns on the automatic completion suggestions: the data is taken from the values that are stored in the current data file.
If the Always show in edit window
option is on, this field will be displayed in the list of data fields when the object is edited even if the field does not contain any value.
Data fields in the main tables
The data fields display in the main tables can be set in Fields
tab in table options window (Table options
button on the left of the table):
The option
Show contour if no photo
allows to display a portrait contour if the person does not have a profile photo.
The order of the fields in this list corresponds to the order of the fields in the table. The order can be changed by dragging fields up or down or by pressing button Move up
and Move down
.
The Restore defaults
button allows to restore a standard fields order.
