Features of displaying persons on the map
The person is located on the map according to their place of residence. If the geographical coordinates of a place are not specified, the Agelong Tree tries to get the coordinates by the name of the place using a special online service. If the place has an abbreviated, redundant or outdated name or contains errors, then its coordinates will not be determined and the corresponding person (or several persons associated with this place) will not be displayed on the map.
When receiving coordinates through the service, a request queue and existing (previously received) data are used, so some persons will appear on the map quickly, and some – with a delay. As the coordinate database fills up, the number of persons on the map will gradually increase.
For best results, we recommend using official names of populated areas and/or specifying geographic coordinates of places.
